Bracknell Forest and Windsor & Maidenhead Safeguarding Adults Board

SAB Conference: Ageing well with learning disabilities - are we getting it right?

The first Bracknell Forest and Windsor & Maidenhead Safeguarding Adults Board conference took place on Thursday 18th October.  Highlighted as a growing area for development from several Safeguarding Adults Reviews, the conference focussed on exploring ageing for those with a learning disability and complex, changing health and social care needs as they approach the end of life. The conference brought together professionals involved in all aspects of this work to understand current issues within the national context.

Making Safeguarding Personal

Making Safeguarding Personal is at the heart of the work of the SAB and all safeguarding practice. It involves an outcome focussed, person centred approach to safeguarding adults.  It arose following feedback from people who had used safeguarding services which suggested that people felt driven by a process and felt out of control. It is a personalised approach that enables safeguarding to be done with, not to, people.
